As per our Surface Pro 3 review, a previous criticism of the Surface line was a lack of official, or at least designed specifically for, accessories. But this time around, there appears to be a change and one of the immediately available items is the Executive Series leather case from Maroo.

A real leather folder-type case in a nice navy blue, the case features its own kickstand, two storage loops for the new active digital pen and accommodates the official Type 3 keyboard cover.

The cover has an internal, soft plastic clip system, called SG Bumper, and frame that firmly holds the Surface Pro 3 without obscuring any of its ports or connections. The internal surfaces are a microfibre fabric that protects from scratches and bumps. The keyboard side has an extra articulation to allow various different poise angles, from straight up for video viewing, to more laid back for document review. There are also elasticated loops that serve to restrain the Type keyboards and have them fold in and out smoothly with the case.

Other colours are available, such as black, a lighter blue and purple. At €59.99 it might be seen as a little pricey, especially as this is the same as the dollar retail cost, meaning a hefty margin due to exchange rates, without actually adding functionality. However, it is good to have a range of accessories designed specifically for the Surface Pro 3, as opposed to generic items based on size alone, that are of premium quality and that one would not hesitate to put on the table at a board meeting.
