Google has partnered with a range of retailers to make gift cards for its Play media service available to Irish consumers.

Tesco, An Post, Argos, Musgraves, Powercity, Homebase and Xtravision now stock the cards with values of €15, €25 and €50. The cards will be available in-store only, said Google, with further retailers to be added in the coming weeks.

The cards can be used to purchase apps, games, movies, books, and music from the online store. Users can also use the cards to purchase in-application merchandise, Google confirmed. However, application subscriptions and hardware are not covered by the gift cards.

Google said that it is making purchasing easier with the card scheme, and will be developing it further, adding functionality, over time.
