Internet technologies, products and services company Continent 8 Technologies is now recruiting for 15 new positions at its new facility in west Dublin.

Opened by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD, the new facility is to become the EMEA Service Operations Centre (SOC).

Continent 8 Technologies says that it is “focused on the delivery of market-defining Internet technologies, products and services providing companies with secure and reliable facilities from which to host their online operations”.

The new roles will be in the areas of product and service development, technical support and customer support.

The company is the anchor tenant in the DataPlex data centre, which opened in September of this year in Ballycoolin, with a PUE of 1.2, making it one of the most energy efficient data centres in Ireland, employing free cooling and other low energy solutions.

“When Continent 8 decided to invest in Ireland,” said Michael Tobin, CEO, Continent 8, “and expand our global data centre footprint we looked for a facility that had comprehensive and diverse connectivity, whilst deploying the latest in data centre cooling technologies to drive overall efficiency for our customers. This facility allows us to deliver on these requirements and continue to develop our global portfolio of managed hosting services.”

The Dublin facility if the ninth world-wide for Continent 8 Technologies, with others in London, Paris, Montreal, Isle of Man, Gibraltar, Guernsey, Malta, and Singapore,  with further plans for sites in Canada, the USA and the Far East.

When the Dataplex facility was opened by An Taoiseach, Tobin said that of the sites it had around the world, the Dataplex B10 facility in Dublin was the most technologically advanced.
