We can hardly call it a secret weapon but the key to the effectiveness of Xterity Cloud Services is the unique technology we developed for cloud management: PAN Cloud Director. Essentially, this sits on top of the hypervisor and provides complete on-demand cloud management using a simple drag-and-drop graphical interface.  Our channel partners then work through a partner portal that allows them to design and provision complete back office environments for each of their clients from a comprehensive catalogue of IT resources. They do not have to invest and carry the cost directly in hardware or other IT resources to provide that service if it does not suit their business model. This includes physical, virtual and public cloud resources.

The basic resources like servers, CPUs, RAM and operating systems can be complemented by appropriate firewalls, switches, networking and even external services. Business applications include Exchange Server, SharePoint, Oracle, SQL Server and others while Virtual Desktops (DaaS) are a growing trend. The main point is that a client’s entire mission-critical infrastructure can be provisioned, hosted and managed by our partners. High levels of IT skills are not required because the management tools are easy to use and we can support with all levels of technical expertise. It can be a turnkey technical partnership as the environment is designed and set up initially.

The Xterity service has been proven in practice over the last seven years. We now have just over 100 reseller partners which between them manage IaaS for over 500 client enterprises across a wide range of sectors, from SMEs and professional firms to state agencies. Many people in the IT sector will know that we began in 2008 as Fort Technologies, a high performance start-up recognised by Enterprise Ireland for our work on what became PAN Cloud Director. In 2012 we were acquired by Egenera, a US multinational that specialises in providing cloud services and converged infrastructure, including BC and DR and smart management tools. The corporate centre of excellence for cloud services management software is here in Dublin and the whole portfolio of tools and services is replicated in other markets. Lessons learned in all the countries in which Xterity systems are setup are fed back into the service here.
