With the aim of giving those who need the power a boost without deafening those around them, Fujitsu has developed two new high-end workstations offering the best of the current crop of high powered componentry from Intel, Nvidia and AMD, plus Fujitsu’s own fast PCIe 512GB SSDs.

Despite their power, the new models manage to deliver sustained maximum performance without breaking 23dBA. By way of context, that is below the ambient noise levels of your average open-plan office.

The new Celsius R940 and M740 workstations feature the latest in the Intel Xeon line of processors, supported by DD4 and SSDs. The machines are rack mountable with secure PCoIP access, and are optimised for 24/7 operating environments. There are virtualisation optimisations too, with Windows Server 2012 support.

The accessory range includes Fujitsu P Line Displays with screen sizes of up to 68.5cm (27”), and the ergonomic 3D SpaceMouse.

The R940 is a scalable dual-core processor workstation for the most demanding and memory-intensive multi-threaded applications, especially simulation, visualising and rendering.

The M740 single-processor unit is suited to healthcare environments, says Fujitsu, as it is certified for Medical EMC Standards, and allows for easy, at-the-desk expandability, thanks to a tool-free chassis with cold-plug access, plus rapid change of up to eight hard disk drives.

Other areas for the new models would be engineering, manufacturing, architecture, media & entertainment, healthcare, oil and gas as well as geographic information systems (GIS).

Both models are now available with price depending on specification.
