  ICS: Data Protection Essentials

  This half-day introductory-level programme is designed for those who handle information about clients or the general public – and who need a basic understanding of data protection rights and responsibilities in Ireland. It covers the fundamental issues contained within the Data Protection Acts that have a legislative impact upon all organisations and provides information on how to achieve compliance.

  The event will be presented by Hugh Jones, a qualified Data Protection specialist and an associate of the Irish Computer Society. Hugh delivers training, provides professional advisory services and is a frequent speaker at Privacy and Data Management events in Ireland and overseas.

  As a certified Data Protection practitioner, Hugh supports organisations striving to achieve and maintain compliance with Irish and European Data Protection legislation. He facilitates projects to design and deploy appropriate policies and procedures in relation to data privacy, data quality and records retention, and conducts regular site audits and process evaluations on behalf of his clients.
