Eight Irish SMEs secure Horizon 2020 funding boost

Eight Irish SMEs were named among 387 recepients of EU funding under the Horizon 2020 programme today.

The supported businesses include Inform Bio for its PreEclampsia diagnosis technology, smart grid monitoring company Mac and Dublin-based Exergyn, which is developing an engine that runs on hot water.

This latest round of grants is the largest yet and brings the total number of SMEs supported under Horizon 2020’s small business instrument to 827, representing an investment of €255 million.

The eight Irish applicants are G&M Steel Fabricators; MentorPitch; Inform Bio; Convex; Ikon Semiconductor; MAC; Composite Recycling; and Exergyn.

Some €3 billion in EU funding has been set aside for Horizon 2020’s SME instrument.
