Split your iPad screen in two to enable you to get more done
There are undoubtedly huge benefits to working with the larger screen of an iPad when compared to working with the more diminutive display of the iPhone, but there are also times when all of that screen real estate could be put to better use. Taposé is a unique iOS app that splits you screen in two, enabling you to use each section for different tasks, including browsing the web, word processing, using the journal tool and much more. There is also scope for collaborative work.
One of the main components of the app is the journal which can be used as a word processor or a note taking tool. It is also possible to incorporate media elements such as videos into documents which is helpful when you are collecting together different types of information for a project. The split screen mode means that when you are collating information there is no need to keep switching between apps – you can have a note open to the right of the screen and browse the web to the left.
Anything you want to add to a note can be simply dragged and dropped into place, but you can also type or draw with your finger. Cloud storage is available (400MB by default) and you can also share content to the likes of Evernote or via email. But things are not perfect. It is clear from the offset that this is still an app that is in the early stages of development. Despite the fact that this is version 1.0 of Taposé, there are performance problems and the app is more prone to crashing than is acceptable.
Where Taposé really excels in it is flexibility. This low-cost app can be used in so many different ways. It can be used as a valuable business utility, but there are countless ways it can be used to organize many different aspects of your life. The collaborative aspects of the app mean that it is ideal for families that need to share information with each other, or for and group project.
Final Verdict: This is a staggeringly ambitious app, and it almost gets it spot on, but there are a few niggles that means there is still a little way to go.
