Keep track of the progress in this year’s World Cup from the comfort of your desktop
The World Cup is almost upon us, and if you’re going to keep up with the banter you’ll need to know what’s going on. What you need is a simple desktop application that can provide you with results, tables and fixtures, plus let you predict what’s going to happen.
South Africa 2010 is a free desktop tool that does everything you’d expect: extract the program, launch it, set your time zone and you’re ready to go. Start by clicking File > Online Update to download any completed matches into the program, then choose File > Save Results Database.
Once done, you can view results, tables, schedules and the knockout stage from the various tabs on offer – you can also input your own score predictions and see how they’ll affect the outcome of each group.
It’s very simple, but elegantly put together and simple to use. No installation is required, so once the World Cup’s over you can simply delete it from your desktop. There’s also an iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch version, but at the present time it’s not been accepted by the iTunes store so is unavailable for download.
Final Verdict: Good, solid application that does exactly what it says on the tin – keeps you up to date with the World Cup.
