Founder and managing director of Dogpatch Labs Patrick Walsh, has been announced as the Guaranteed Irish Tech Hero for his contribution to the tech industry in Ireland.

Walsh is the fifth of six Guaranteed Irish Heroes to be awarded. Maser; Niamh Briggs; Prof Louise Kenny and Keiron Campbell Black were previously named Guaranteed Irish Heroes for art, sport, science and music, respectively. The winner of the food category will be announced before the end of the year.

“The work Patrick has done over the last number of years has contributed greatly to establishing Ireland as leading start-up hub,” said CEO of Guaranteed Irish Brid O’Connell.

“Dogpatch Labs is central to the start-up ecosystem in Ireland – providing companies with the space and facilities required at a crucial phase in their development.”

Walsh said: “It’s an honour to be the Guaranteed Irish Tech Hero. As Ireland’s tech scene continues to grow from strength to strength, it is great that the startup community is being recognised in this way.

“This award would not have been possible without the thousands of people across the country that I have worked with and the many tech start-ups with global ambition that we have housed at Dogpatch Labs.

“They make up the fabric that is Ireland’s tech scene. The work Guaranteed Irish do in championing businesses investing in Ireland is important in continuing to develop Ireland as a great place to do business.”
