Digit Game Studios is to create 40 jobs following a multi-million dollar investment by US entertainment network Scopely. The move will triple the company’s headcount to 60.

Founded in 2012 and based in Dublin, Digit employs an international team of 20 with experience working on some of the world’s most successful game franchises in browser, console, massively multiplayer online game (MMO), mobile and social games.

“Content is the richest source of value in this industry and we are delighted to have significant opportunity to create a lot of it. We are adding to our team to help us do just that,” said Richard Barnwell, founder and CEO, Digit Game Studios. “We are scaling up our studio to launch an all-new title with iconic, world-leading AAA IP [intellectual property], that has a chance to be huge.”

Tim O’Brien, chief revenue officer, Scopely, said: “Scopely is the partner of choice for the world’s leading free to play game developers. We look to partner with the world’s leading mobile game developers of specific genres. Digit clearly have some bold ambitions and the development approach they have exhibited to date is impressive – they boast an accomplished and engaged international team who have managed to build a fresh gaming experience from the ground up. We believe they are emerging as a leader in mobile strategy games.”

Digit launched its first title, the MMO Kings of the Realm, in September 2014.
