Broadband subscriptions top 850,000

TechTrade | 07 Nov 2011 :  UPC has announced a net gain of 32,000 service subscriptions across its broadband, digital TV and phone services compared to the previous quarter. This brings the company's total number of subscriptions to 858,500. Digital TV subscriptions were reported as having biggest number of subscribers at 384,900, an increase of 3%; followed by 241,400 broadband customers, an increase of 31%; and 143,800 phone customers, an increase of 65%.

Dana Strong, CEO of UPC Ireland (pictured), said: "The success and substantial network investment in people and infrastructure comes at a time when many would have been concerned about the viability of big investments in Ireland but we are confident our fibre investment will continue to be well-received. With 87% of UPC homes across urban centres and regional towns able to receive 30Mb/s broadband and 60% able to receive 100Mb/s, we are the clear choice for quality services at great value."
