Blueface to undercut telcos with "free calls for life"

One-off handset charge uses broadband to bypass operators

Telecoms & Broadband | 01 Feb 2010 :
Consumers are set to benefit from a new tarriff system from VoIP operator Blueface that promises free calls for life. The office applies to local and national calls following a one-off purchase of a Siemens Gigaset cordless DECT handset for €199.

The service works by making use of an existing broadband connection to carry the calls.

The phone can be used to both make and receive calls as normal and even includes a local phone number if customers don't already have one. Porting a number (transferring it to Blueface) is also possible so customers can keep their number and still get the deal.

"People are spending an average of €44 per month for fixed line telephony - this offer pays for itself in less than 5 months," explained chief executive Alan Foy.
