Father Ted and IT Crowd creator Graham Linehan has been crowned 'top of the twits' according to results from a new Web tool developed by PR agency Edelman. Tweetlevel uses an algorithm which takes into account the quality and quantity of someone's tweets.
Linehan scored 73 points of a possible 100, eight ahead of nearest rival, 2FM broadcaster Rick O'Shea.
Competition for places two to 10 was somewhat tighter but was dominated by popular broadcasters, including RTE's Mark Little, Newstalk's Sean Moncrieff and Today FM's Ray Foley. Nicky Byrne of Westlife was a surprise entry in fifth position.
Interestingly, there was no place on the chart for local bloggers or marketing specialists who routinely cultivate large communities of followers. Also conspicuous by his absence was Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating who, according to figures from rival service Twitterholic, has the largest following in Ireland.
