Host-It, a provider of managed hosting services, has signed a deal to provide QuickBooks accounting software as a hosted service via the internet. The deal was signed with Leahy & Co, a Dublin-based chartered accountancy firm and QuickBooks partner.
QuickBooks, an accounts package for businesses of all sizes, lets financial controllers track business finances, pay bills, create invoices and purchase orders, and manage inventory so their firms have complete and accurate records ready to meet tax deadlines.
Leahy's practice support manager, Lisa Connolly, notes: "So many businesses have people working from home or have salespeople in the field. This way, they will be able to check their accounts online through QuickBooks, or if they need to raise an invoice when they are meeting a client, they can do it over the internet from that customer's office."
The service provider is hosting a version of QuickBooks at its secure data centre, using Vmware virtualization technology to keep clients' financial data stored separately from other applications hosted on the infrastructure.
Host-It MD Darren Donnelly said his firm will also provide daily and weekly backup services to customers who purchase QuickBooks through the new service.
