News about firms expanding or recruiting are few and far between these days. However, against this gloomy economic background, Dundalk-based Intact Software says it is to boost its workforce by 25% in the year ahead.

The firm provides tailored software solutions to small and medium enterprises in Ireland and the UK, and is now seeking to expand into new markets, including the Middle East.

As part of the expansion, Intact is running what it describes as "a massive re-branding campaign" worth over €100,000 with the aim of raising its profile.

Intact's expansion will create 10 new jobs in Ireland. The firm currently employs 30 staff between its two offices, in Dundalk and Cork, and the extras will take firm's workforce to 40 by the beginning of 2010. The firm is to moving to new offices in Dundalk.

Intact CEO Paul Marry noted: "Some companies cut back on marketing in times like this, but we have decided to increase our resources to maintain our position at the forefront of the software sector."

Recent years have seen the firm's turnover rise from €2.8m in 2007 to €3 million in 2008, with this year's figure projected at over €3.3m. Clients include recycling giant Repak.
