Hardware & Equipment | 30 Oct 2007 :
60 per cent of Ireland's small and medium-sized business (SMBs) are planning to invest in voice-over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP) technology over the next six months, according to research conducted by Cisco Ireland.
"Cisco Ireland is currently experiencing solid demand from SMBs, particularly around our Unified Communications portfolio, which helps companies to communicate more effectively and lower costs" said Michael Galvin, country manager, Cisco Ireland.

To focus these businesses as they prepare to upgrade to IP-based communications platforms, Cisco is conducting a nationwide tour to demonstrate the advantages of its Smart Business Communications System for smaller firms. The tour follows the launch earlier this year of the Cisco Smart Business Communications System, which helps enable anytime, anywhere, access to information. The System integrates with existing desktop applications such as calendaring, e-mail, customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) to help improve customer service and business agility, which are hallmarks of competitive differentiation for SMBs.
It employs a range of new hardware products, integrated Cisco Unified Communications applications, and system-management tools designed to complement each other and provide communication building blocks for small businesses. These products include:

The Cisco Network on Wheels (NOW) van is a sophisticated 25-foot vehicle equipped with the latest Cisco networking technologies. The van is fitted to create a mobile solutions showcase for customers and Cisco channel partners, featuring interactive technical demonstrations that show the value to businesses of the latest Cisco solutions.

Cisco's success in Ireland has been built on delivering what our customers and partners require to stay at the forefront of business. For the past three years we have been working to transform our SMB strategy in Ireland to match the needs of customers," said Galvin

Bernadette Wightman, head of SMB, Cisco UK and Ireland, said: "Cisco is the recognized leader in networking technologies for SMBs in Ireland and we are  now moving more deeply into that market. We are pleased to have the opportunity to showcase the Cisco offering in Ireland through the NOW van, which will help to show partners and customers the total communications experience that Cisco can deliver."
The NOW van, will visit Dublin, Galway, Cork and Belfast, will show the following range of Cisco products and solutions:

  1. Unified Communications solutions
  2. Wireless and mobility solutions
  3. Network foundation solutions
  4. Management applications
  5. Embedded security solutions
