Espion to hold security training week

CISSP qualification available to those who pass exam

Trade News | 20 Feb 2006 :
Security specialist Espion is holding a training week in March which will see successful participants receive a ‘Certified Information Systems Security Professional’ (CISSP) qualification.

The CISSP certification is administered by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC). Ireland is currently second in the world for the number of IT professionals holding this qualification on a per capita basis, with 113 qualified professionals in the country.

Espion’s training and development manager Mary Christine Nolan said that although many undergraduate and postgraduate computing courses have modules dedicated to security, professionals who have been working in the area for several years may not have specific qualifications that recognise the expertise they have built up overtime.

The certification benefits both holder and employer, Nolan added.
“A qualified CISSP professional, for their part, can command a higher salary as a result of passing the test.  From the employer's point of view, there is rigorous testing of every area of security knowledge by the CISSP professional ," added Nolan.

The course will consist of an intensive week of training, followed by the six-hour CISSP certification exam. It runs in Dublin from 27 to 31 March, with the examination taking place on April 22, 2006.  The cost for the course is €2595 for early booking.  The examination costs €460 based on early booking.
