CurrencyFair's app lets users transfer money to each other without a middleman

1 October 2015

CurrencyFair
For: iOS, Android
CurrencyFair’s new app lets users transfer money to each other securely without the need for banks and their associated charges. To set up an account users take and upload a photo of their identity documentation.
The app allows for a quick transfer of currency, once money is exchanged you can immediately send it on by filling in the details of the destination account.
Unlike many other money transfer services, the CurrencyFair exchange calculator is transparent and peer-to-peer, showing the live exchange rate for currencies and real exchange rate margin, which most companies hide.
At the moment it supports 18 currencies: Euro, UAE Dirham, Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Swiss Franc, Czech Koruna, Danish Krone, Pound Sterling, Hungarian Forint, Norwegian Krone, New Zealand Dollar, Polish Zloty, Swedish Krona, United States Dollar and South African Rand.

Zipjet
For: iOS, Android
Already operating in London and Berlin, Zipjet is an app-based dry cleaning and laundry service. The user places their order over their browser, iOS or Android device and Zipjet collects from you and drops it back within 48 hours. For the moment it’s only available in Dublin 1-8 but presumably it’ll branch out beyond the Capital.

Zedge
For: iOS, Android
If you’re tired of your smartphone’s range of colour themes and ringtones, Zedge could be the app to bring a little more variety into your life. No account necessary, just download and browser through its extensive library of notification sounds, ringtone and wallpaper options.
