AirSpeed Telecom has signed a three year contract worth €100,000 with Manor Farm Chickens to install and maintain a 100Mb/s managed wide-area network (WAN).

Manor Farm, headquartered in Clonee, Co Meath, previously relied on a leased line network connecting administrative offices in Bracetown Business Park in Co Meath to their processing plant and separate feed mill, both in rural Cavan, an area suffering from low bandwidth and unreliable connectivity.

The managed 100Mb/s MPLS network has since improved the responsiveness of Manor Farm’s database systems, financial systems and e-mail communications.

Sean Hartnett, IT manager, Manor Farm, said: “Airspeed Telecom has provided us with dramatically improved connectivity and capacity across all three of our sites, as well as a managed firewall service. For the first time in years, we are location independent. Staff can access all systems regardless of whether they are onsite or offsite. The bandwidth restrictions we’d been working under were so severe, that staff had to consider which location they needed to be at, depending on system access requirements. We now have the communication capabilities we need to support our business, and many more possibilities are now opened up to us.”

Liam O’Kelly, managing director, AirSpeed Telecom, said: “It is fantastic to enable one of Ireland’s oldest companies to revolutionise its IT system and, as a result, dramatically improve its productivity.”
