Outsourcing and consulting firm Accenture is expanding its Oracle capabilities with the acquisition of Oracle integrator Enkitec.
Enkitec specialises in Exadata implementations and Oracle database administration and development. The acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, “will help simplify solution implementation, increase productivity and accelerate time to value with Oracle Engineered Systems for Accenture clients”, said Accenture.
Oracle Engineered Systems combine Oracle’s applications and database technology, pre-integrated onto a single hardware platform to enable easier innovation at every layer of the stack.
Enkitec has more than 70 Oracle technology and Oracle Engineered Systems consultants, including 13 Oracle ACEs. The Oracle ACE Programme recognises individuals who demonstrate “elite technical proficiency” and who make significant contributions in their respective Oracle communities.
“The Enkitec team has the largest concentration of talent at this level of specialisation in Oracle Engineered Systems in the market today and adding their industry-leading capabilities will be a game-changer for our Oracle business,” said Derek Steelberg, global managing director of Oracle business for Accenture.
“This acquisition, combined with Accenture’s Intelligent Infrastructure capability, will enhance our ability to help clients transform their data centres and accelerate time to value from their Oracle technology investments.”
Enkitec operates globally, with five locations in the US, and with a presence in Germany, the Netherlands, Estonia and the UK (London). Enkitec employees will join Accenture’s global Infrastructure Services business.
John O’Brien, an analyst at TechMarketView, said of the deal: “This shows just how large Accenture’s Oracle practice is today. At 52,000 people globally, Oracle services account for 18% of Accenture’s total workforce.
“It is nearly double the size of Accenture’s SAP practice, which employs over 30,000 people. This gives a pretty good indication of how much bigger the spend on Oracle services is today within Accenture when compared to SAP, and suggests that demand is on the rise.”
The acquisition follows the deal made by Accenture last month in acquiring data analytics company i4C.
