Two IDA-supported companies have announced plans to create up to 70 jobs in Dublin over the next two years.

Cloud-based customer service software platform Zendesk has opened a new data centre in Dublin, creating 30 jobs in IT over the next two years.

Zendesk has more than 7,500 customers in Europe, including Just Giving, GOV.UK, L’Oreal and Glasgow NHS. The investment is a result of Zendesk’s plans to increase its scale and global reach after securing $60 million in additional funding in 2012.

More than 100 million people in 140 countries get their customer service through Zendesk. Along with Dublin, the San Francisco-based company also has offices in London, Copenhagen, Melbourne and Tokyo.

In a second announcement, digital media and domain services company Demand Media has announced the opening ofits largest international office in Dublin city. With an international presence that currently includes offices in Toronto, Buenos Aires and London, Demand Media’s Dublin office will serve as the international headquarters for the company’s domain services business.

The team in the new location is focused on preparing for the historic change about to take place on the Internet, as thousands of new domain names, called new top level domains (TLDs), come to market later this year. The company has hired David Ryan – formerly of Electronic Arts – to head up the operation.

The company is hiring in product engineering, sales and marketing, IT, finance, operations and customer support. It expects to employ between 20 and 40 people within the next year.
