Coillte prepares for LTE with 4Site Telecoms Coillte prepares for LTE with 4Site Telecoms

Natural resources company gets ready for next-generation networks

TechTrade | 31 Oct 2012 :  Coillte, Ireland's largest natural resources company, has announced a two-year contract valued at €250,000 with 4Site Telecoms to aid in the design and planning services for telecom towers across the Coillte estate. Coillte operates over 400 site locations for the telecoms sector representing the largest portfolio of telecom sites in Ireland.

"Our nationwide telecom sites portfolio across many elevated locations is a unique asset as telecom operators look to roll out next generation networks including 4G/LTE. In addition, the industry is moving towards increased collaboration rather than duplicating towers. Our deal with 4Site telecoms will enhance our services to existing and new telecom customers," said Padraig O'Donoghue, director of innovation, Coillte.

4Site will support Coillte in managing and upgrading its tower portfolio so as to maximise revenue. 4Site Telecoms will provide full site design and planning services for the existing portfolio including the implementation of safety and compliance measures to ensure conformance to regulations.

Ian Duggan, managing director of 4Site said: "Coillte has a major opportunity with LTE (Long Term Evolution) and network upgrades coming on-stream and the potential for new tenants on its infrastructure. We were selected against stiff competition."

Mark Foley, of Coillte, added: "4Site's vast knowledge of the industry, its level of detail and clear ability to deliver set it apart in the tender process. We are confident that 4Site can provide Coillte with an independent and consistent service to meet the demands of the telecommunications sector whilst realising significant returns for our business."
