Boots rolls out contactless payments nationwide Boots rolls out contactless payments nationwide

Terminals to accept transactions of €15 and under

TechLife | 04 Oct 2012 :  Boots Ireland has announced the countrywide roll-out of its contactless payment option in partnership with Streamline and Visa Europe.

The introduction of contactless terminals will offer Boots customers a new faster way to pay for everyday health and beauty essentials under €15.

Customers touch the point of sale terminal with their contactless Visa card to make a payment without the need to enter their PIN. This offers customers a faster more convenient and secure way to pay by reducing the need to go to ATMs or carry cash.

Debbie Smith, MD, Boots Ireland, said: "Our aim is to offer customers a great shopping experience with quick, easy ways to pay and we believe that contactless payment is one way to deliver this. The new technology should help to reduce transaction and queuing times. We know that our customers want us to offer an unrivalled choice of services and products and we hope they will enjoy the benefits of using contactless technology in our store."

Conor Langford, vice president Ireland, Visa Europe, said: "Contactless payments make in-store payments faster and easier for both consumers and retailers and today's announcement is another step towards making this new technology a high street reality."
