The Data Protection Commissioner has
aimed at organisations who intend to use cloud computing services to hold or manage personal data for which they are responsible.
Available from the dataprotection.ie web site, the guidance has been created as a result of the work of European Article 29 Working Party, of which the commissioner is a member, on cloud computing and in light of similar documents produced locally the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI), in conjunction with the Irish Internet Association (IIA).
In the guidance, definitions for cloud computing are set out to help organisations understand and determine the required course of action. Data protection issues are identified and advice is given on how to deal with them.
