Centra streets ahead with contactless payments
Symbol group offers new option for small transactions
TechLife | 29 Jun 2012 :
Ryan's Centra in Ennis, Co. Clare has become the first Centra store in Ireland to launch contactless payments for customers.
The technology, which will be rolled out across all 458 Centra stores, will enable customers to take advantage of shorter queues and faster transactions. Customers hold their cards over the point of sale card reader to make payments of up to €15 without needing to enter a PIN. Currently 80% of transactions across Centra stores around the country are for €15 or less.
Ian Allen, Centra sales director, said: "Our continued success can be put down to our unique offer to consumers in terms of value and customer experience. Our retailers are always striving to improve and as contactless technology is about the sweep the country, we are staying at the forefront of payment innovation."
