Android, iOS versions get simultaneous upgrade

TechLife | 15 Jun 2012 :  Amazon announced updates to its Kindle for iOS, Kindle Cloud Reader and Kindle for Android apps on Thursday. The three apps now support children's books, comics and graphic novels, a spokeswoman said.

Amazon offers more than 1,000 children's and comic book titles in full colour on the Kindle Fire tablet, Kindle for Android, Kindle for iPad and Kindle Cloud Reader.

The comics and graphic novels are presented in what Amazon called Kindle Panel View, which showcases artwork in the panel-by-panel format similar to comic books and graphic novels.

Amazon is also rumoured to be readying a launch of a second generation Kindle Fire tablet in early summer. The first generation Fire sells for $200, and Amazon has recently been airing TV ads pitching it as a Father's Day or graduation gift. When asked about a new Fire device, the Amazon spokeswoman responded: "Nothing to announce at this time - Stay tuned."
