LG Smart TV upgrader

Scheduled for a June launch in South Korea and retailing for the equivalent $170, this little streaming box can turn any dumb TV into a rather smart one. Included is support for voice and gesture control, Internet access, 2D and 3D streaming content, Wi-Fi, DLNA and, of course, an app store. A budget version for under $100 is also on the way with more limited app support. No word on a European release, so far.

Price: $170/$99

Bang and Olufsen Beolit 12

This set of speakers for Apple's airplay wireless connections don't come cheap but they're small, attractive and deliver eight hours of playback on a single charge. Enclosed in the attractive case is a 120W amplifier, two 2" tweeters and a 2" woofer.

A slightly complicated set-up involving an app and a direct connection to your router harms its case, but we are assured the sound is suitably impressive.

Price: £599
