Telecoms and digital TV service provider UPC Ireland announced its results for the first quarter of 2012 today, revealing continued growth across its Internet, digital TV and telephone services to a total of 922,600 subscribers, up 13% on the same quarter last year.
Digital TV remains the copmany's biggest draw at 384,900 customers, with fibre-powered broadband in second place at 272,700 - the latter scoring an increase of 26% year-on-year. Saorview channels RTE One+1, RTE 2 HD and RTE Jnr were added to its content offering in the past year.
The biggest growth was in fixed line business, which saw a jump of 71% but maintains the smallest base, with 187,200 customers.
Dana Strong, CEO of UPC Ireland (pictured), said: "We're continuing to grow our business with ground breaking products, services and bundles offering unique value to our customers. People are increasingly choosing high bandwidth broadband services and we are well positioned to meet that demand having invested €500 million over the past six years in our advanced next generation broadband network."
"We are focused on making our investments productive for the entire Irish economy. This includes promoting digital inclusion and business competitiveness for all our customers throughout Ireland."
