iPad 3 to launch on 7 March
US news outlets receive invitation to San Francisco event
TechLife | 28 Feb 2012 :
The rumours of an imminent iPad 3 launch appear to have been well founded, as several US news outlets have reported receiving invitations to a San Francisco event on 7 March.
The Verge has a screenshot of the invitation which clearly shows an iPad, with the words: "We have something you really have to see. And touch."

The timing of the invitations to Apple's iPad related event seems to be well calculated. The missives landed just as Eric Schmidt, boss of Google, was taking to the stage at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) for his keynote address. Not only that, but it is also just a day before the Windows 8 consumer preview on 29 February.
If you were setting about stealing some thunder, it certainly seems a good way to go about it.
With the damp squib that was the iPhone 4s, Apple has some ground to regain with the iPad 3. The company certainly has the tech world's attention now, but don't expect too much in terms of advance details as Apple is usually pretty good at keeping such things under wraps.
Despite the poor sentence construction, the invitations have sparked much speculation about the specifications and capabilities of the new iPad device.
Stay tuned for further details.
UPDATE: It has now been confirmed that there will also be a London event on 7 March also, to which European media, including Irish, have received invitations.
