Smartphone maker HTC's prediction of a slow fourth quarter to 2011 have been validated following the release of results for the period showing a decline in net profit from 14.8 billion Taiwan dollars (€382 million) to 11 billion Taiwan dollars (€284 million) over the priod. Sales for the month of December alone fell 20.3% from the same month last year to 26.3 billion Taiwan dollars (€680 million).
Overall, however, the picture remains rosy as net profits for the whole of 2011 rose 57% to 62 billion Taiwan dollars.
