Who, what, where and how?
What Google says Ireland sought in 2011—it’s zeitgeist time
TechLife | 15 Dec 2011 :
This year, according to Google's latest Year-end Zeitgeist, Ireland was looking for bargains, as classified ad site Donedeal.ie was the one of the most popular searches. But as we bargain hunted, what were we also looking for? The iPhone 5.
Who we were looking for may not be surprising with Pippa Middleton being top, followed by Imogen Thomas and Jessie J, though quite why is not specified.
The ‘how' was dominated by the Shuffle, study and reference. This show of erudition though was somewhat ruined by the next most popular how to term which was ‘pronounce'.
The ‘what is...' showed little hope for the intelligence of the nation either, with PotterMore, spooning and Reiki coming out top, though with ICT popping in at a worrying fourth.
One hope for the nation is that in entertainment, Xfactor languished a lowly fourth with Sickipedia jokes coming out tops-perhaps a double edged sword there.
For the ‘where' element, fantasy lands were top of the list with Orland, Disney and the Caribbean Islands dominating.
